What is workplace bullying? How does it arise? Joshua Yim, CEO of ACHIEVE Group, shared with #TodayOnline that perceptions in workplace cultures often have a bearing on whether employees regard rough behaviour/ language as bullying. What is considered bullying in some industries, may be viewed as the normal workplace culture in other industries.
However, the majority of today’s workforce believes very much in respect. Companies thus need to have clear policies and workplace guidelines on what actions and behaviours are not condoned in the workplace, and should remind employees regularly about these. It is also important to ensure that there are clear feedback channels that employees can turn to. The bottomline is that companies need to ensure that there is a safe and supported environment for all employees where they feel respected so that not only job satisfaction and productivity can remain high, employees and the company can grow together in the long run.
